XP cd player?

with everything integrated into media players these days, is it still possible to stick a CD in the player and listen to it through the headphone port?? (my speakers don't have a headphone socket )

Yes, it is possible, but you need to disable the Digital CD Playback in the CD/DVD drive properties first. Then the drive will actually play the CD as opposed to passing the audio data to the motherboard.
