Computer remote control

With all the folding rigs I have around my house at this point, I need to clean up the area a little or I will have to figure out a way to live in all of these things.

Basically I want to set a few of these up with no KB/M or Monitors. Is VNC still te best way to jump on the remote boxes to check system and folding status, or is there something better?

Either VNC or LogMeIn, in my opinion.

Both have their plus sides. =)

I'm quite partial to VNC myself. I've not tried LogMeIn.

Well I will try it...I know VNC pretty well so I will probably just stick with what I know...

BTW...do we have it in our files collection?

For my systems, I use a mix of RDP (for Windows hosts), VNC and SSH (for UN*X hosts)... For machines that do something like F@H, I don't bother with a GUI, and just use SSH if it's on UN*X.

The only issue I have with thie iteration of VNC is the screen refresh issues. Sometimes when I open a right click menu or the like the menu does not show op on my windowed display. If I roll the curser over the menu it is as if I am painting it on the screen. Is this normal? I have used tridia VNC in the past and I don't remember this happening.

I do have 3 rigs now booting with no KB/V/M and all is well.....

You might want to try ultrvnc from sourceforge - works well for me and the price is the same

If you're using Windows XP Pro, RDP is much faster than VNC. RDP is known as Remote Desktop.

If you're using Windows XP Home, then VNC is probably the best free option.

I was thinking of remote desktop. Only my main rig has Pro on it.
