Nvidia 8800 and 97.44 drivers buggy?

Anyone running an 8800 with the 97.44 drivers?

My system is fine, except I get occasional BSODs when playing WOW.

Usually holds up for about 2 hours before I get a BSOD relating to the display drivers. Sometimes, it will happen sooner.

System is otherwise stable, can overclock CPU and memory nicely. Stressing CPU and memory does not cause and crashes.

Seen quite a few people posting elsewhere with similar/same issue.

Are these drivers crap?

I installed them a while back (7950GT). They work well for me. I'm still testing though as I've also updated my MB BIOS to the 1801 BIOS.

But 7950 is not a 8800 and who knows what Nvidia is up to! ":O}

The good news is that Nvidia takes care of this stuff when it happens!

Well, I investigated further after a BSOD in Windows.

Noticed the nvidia ethernet driver was old. Clicked on unistall and this caused a BSOD, everytime. You know you're getting somewhere when you can make it crash!

So, got the driver uninstalled and so far, so good with the newer ethernet driver.

The nvidia firewall may have been problematic. Have unistalled that for now and will reinstall that if the system holds up as is.

That NV firewall is always borking my games, don't use it any more. To be fair I dont use a software firewall, AV or anything at all, I just install and run a free AV once a month.

I think the firewall on my router is good enough. I do have Avast! running all the time without issues.
