For W2K users...This is an MS bitch! MS is SELLING the patch for $4000 to corps and charities who mostly still use W2K to run.

How some ever Harvard has made the patch available, simple executable patch 2000 Pro in a second. Thank MS for another heaping serving of MS BS!

It's the brute force method of upgrade or we will make you life a living hell.

If a normal business did this, they would be called on the table in a minute.

I found out recently that new Creative sound cards no longer work in W2k, no drivers....I wonder what profit creative saw in not serving one of if not the largest installed user base of machines?

Think they forgot how to make drivers for W2K?

This is Anti-service at it's finest! Not only does MS no longer support, they are getting their partners to no longer support nor provide for. Well screw creative and all those like her!

As for XP? My guess is that MS will start to sabotage it FAR sooner than they did with 2000 Pro. It is after all more of a threat to Vista than 2000 pro.

Especially seeing as win2k and xp use the same driver base don't they?

It's probably possible to hack the drivers to work in 2k so maybe there are modded drivers available.

Damn, I should have saved the E-mail. I was looking at sound cards, one of the threads here, and I noticed that this was the first time I have seen gear approved for XP but with no mention of W2K, all their new cards were listed this way. So I wrote them and asked if a "Fatality" would run on my box. They had the insanity to write back and suggest I upgrade to Vista (Which they don't have drivers for!~) or XP which they do! Or go with their outdated hardware. I wrote back and said I'd be find buying from someone that give a crap about me and how I want to do things....they didn't see any point in responding....

Personally, my guess is that it would run just fine on my W2K box. But who needs a company that treats it's customers like this. It's stupid really ( unless cash or considerations have changed hands at creative)

MOST of their past users are still W2K or MS wouldn't be (My guess here nothing more) paying them not to provide drivers for W2K, when MS SHOULD be insisting they do!!

Yeah, a bit lacking in games, but has the basics. Hoping they can enable OpenAL in the drivers. But with creative finished as far as I'm concerned, it seemed a good choice...I listen to music most of my day.

"Oxygen HD drivers are currently only available for Windows XP, but you can get them in 32- and 64-bit flavors. C-Media is expected to release 32-bit Vista drivers in the first week of February, as well. We haven't been able to get a timetable for Vista x64 drivers, but C-Media is apparently working on it. OpenAL drivers are also in the works, albeit without a definitive release schedule."

Review I thought most of so far

You can synchronise your computer clock with an internet time server. If you were to disable the automatic DST settings and set your clock to synchronise off an internet time server, would that not eliminate the need to patch?
