Advertising supported too. However, which channels you can get depends on which country you're in. (see http://www.joost.com/whatson/channels.html for details)

It seems to be working quite well, although it has crashed once on me in around half a day of using it. It also seems to be really struggling for bandwidth on my PC.

You may find it works faster, eventually, when more people are using it. The streaming is done by peer-to-peer. So, if there's only a few sources near you, it might be struggling.
