1 billion more users in 8years seems a little unrealistic, is it possible?

You know it would almost sound like they are seriously trying to help the developing world.

Almost... because the One Laptop Per Child program is in full swing, with thousands of laptops already delivered, 1,000,000 confirmed orders this year, and a possible production of up to 10,000,000 laptops per year.

All using a Fedora based linux operating system. NOT Windows.

The fact is even if M$ dropped their prices to $25 per OS, which will never ever happen, that is far too much for low cost PCs like the OLPC XO.

So, yea, its complete self interest that prompted this, but then what else is new.
