Wouldn't claiming microsoft made an 'admition' with the rather weak arguement of actions speaking louder than words be considered libel?

That was a horribly written with no real substance imho, just invective aimed at Vista.

Vista imho is a fine Operating System and the internal design is much more solid than XP. Problems with drivers and application support will be sorted out as Vista marketshare increases and imho the only real thing that bothers me about it is the built in DRM. On the other hand, I don't really plan on playing protected content on my computer.

Comparing Vista to ME is unfair and inaccurate. ME was an unstable product that tried to rebuild 98SE while removing its DOS underpinnings and replace them with something that sucked. At the same time Win2k was a great OS with a stable code base.

Vista is a better Operating System than XP, at least from an OS design point of view. Part of the reason why many drivers needed a rewrite for Vista is that MS pulled a lot of drivers out of kernel space and is forcing them to run as user programs, which ultimately will greatly increase stability.

Well, Vista supports both the KMDF and the UMDF models - that's drivers in kernel and in user mode respectively. Many USB drivers should be UMDF,as they do not need to communicate with the hardware in the PC directly. However, any driver that has to talk directly to hardware (such as using interrupts, DMA or using any kernel mode resources) has to be a kernel mode driver. That tends to mean that any driver that talks to an expansion card will be kernel mode.

True, my viewpoint is that the less time spent in kernel mode, the better. Companies will adapt to the new driver models, and most relevant hardware will be supported.

Nvidia for one has constantly been improving their Vista drivers, the improvement from the February to April graphics drivers has been immense.
