This is what I'm talking about. If Dell release the XPS M1210 laptop with Linux on it, I'll buy one.

The others are not going to ignore this either. Regardless of how well this works for Dell, the others are going to start doing it for image purposes if nothing else, and given the level of dissatisfaction currently for Windows Vista, the impending end of Windows XP sales, and the massive advancements Ubuntu has made on the desktop, this could actually work.

Most important thing though, is that the customers win. If we get the choice of a reliable, secure, functional, and very well supported and presented operating system as a free and open source option to Windows Vista, its more power to the people.

From TheInquirer (http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=39312):

Quote:
Ubuntu is likely to appear on Dell e-series budget machines, XPS home PCs and possibly an e-series Inspiron laptop. Prices are expected to start at around $400 for a 512MB Sempron or Celeron D system without a monitor. The choice of Ubuntu isn't much of a surprise as Mikey Dell is reported to use the OS on his home PC.
Cheaper budget machines 4TW... Also interesting that Micheal Dell seams to use Ubuntu himself.
