| This is truly the best site around. We just picked up a new laptop with Vista preloaded, and I was looking for info on how to get into the registry and play around (remove preloaded garbage) and found everything I needed right here. Thank you all .

| <<CAUTION: Enable this only if you know what you're doing. By default, the god-mode administrator account is disabled and you can't log in as "administrator." To enable it, do the following: 1. Type "management" into Start Search and select Computer Management. 2. Open "Local Users and Groups" 3. Open "Users" 4. Right click on "Administrator" and select "Properties" 5. Uncheck "Account is disabled" and click on "Ok" You can also choose to rename the "Administrator" account at this time too which, back in WinXP, was recommended to prevent some forms of unauthorized access. Once this is done, you should see the "Administrator" account on the welcome screen.>> Ok, when I go into the management section, there is no link to "Local Users and Groups" Now how do I find this "god mode" (I like the sound of it) And , after spending part of the morning involved in setting up this Vista rig, As of right now I don't like it at all. (I guess I am too used to XP). It seems much slower and way more of a mem hog. Also having a problem accessing my home network. I can't even find where to hook up to my "MShome". I did get the wireless card connected to my router, but can't get to the file sharing on my main puter (this one) and my side server (storage puter). Help!!

| I personally wouldnt mess with it if i were you... You can just use the permissions of that account by right clicking and selecting Open as admin. I can walk you through it or others on here to get to it but id leave it alone.
