| Despite the sarcasm, its about time. Hopefully it will fix some compatibility with drivers and programs. We have networking issues with our Vista users.

| I guess if the Beta testers would have done there job, Vista would be a better product...well, maybe not but still.

| MS wasn't going to fix all the bugs in Vista before they released it. There were some that were classified as show stoppers, and thus had to be fixed before it shipped. Others were considered to be of lesser importance, and hence it was OK to ship the product with these defects. MS could then release a service pack to fix issues that were deemed worth fixing.

| That's how we should build cars, so they almost stop and almost go. So that drivers can almost see where they are going and can almost get there. Why do we expect so much less from software than we do any other product? Can one imagine accepting a car that was delivered in this kind of shape?

| Speaking as a software developer, this is one of the things that really, REALLY ticks me off. There is NO EXCUSE for delivering software with KNOWN BUGS! However, the sad fact of the matter is that this is done constantly; e.g. the company I work for is releasing a piece of software (actually, it's been out in the wild now for about a year) that has over 1,000 KNOWN bugs. Some of those bugs are trivial (mispelled word), some of them are pretty serious (do something in the wrong sequence and the server crashes). Until people stop accepting software that doesn't work as being the norm, and stop rewarding companies that produce barely working software by purchasing it, things won't change.

| Why would they!? They depend upon our short sightedness and THEIR PR deportments. That said, Vista has transformed the lives of several of our members... but I'll let them tell their own stories...(Like I can stop them! ":O}

| Many brand new cars do have serious faults and problems, and the more expensive and complex cars seem to be the most prone to it. I know one guy who bought a brand new Bentley, for about $200,000, and it was going back to Bentley on a monthly basis to have problems fixed. MS puts out faulty software because they can get away with it. A firm producing software for aircraft wouldn't do it.
