Yellow Dog Linux on PS3.

I gave up my PC for a while because it was driving me insane from forking out every time something died on me. So I am now a PS3 owner with YDL on here. Of course I will return to the PC again either mid next year or the start of 2009. But until then Im sticking with this setup (Just hoping this doesnt die either.)

Anyway Rant over LOL. What im needing to know is does anybody know how to get the flash plugin for firefox installed on this OS? Also I wanted to try to get an emulator running but I am a NOOB with this Linux thing. There is only 1 unholy reason im using LINUX and that is this stupid console wont allow the install of any type of windows. This linux is a violation of everything I know of a computer OS. I would much rather windows 98me than this (And windows 98 isnt good at all). So if I can get an emulator running I will try installing windows 2000 on here.

Also do you guys have any recomendations on other software (Compatible with YDL) that I should install? any help would be greatly appreciated.

Getting Windows emulated via YDL on a PS3 is going to nigh on impossible I think. Can Cell even run X86 instructions?

After a bit of digging, it's possible with QEMU, but it'll be incredibly slow.

Cell wasn't designed with windows in mind. PS3 wasn't designed with desktop linux in mind either, which is why it has sod all memory. 256MB isn't fun, and will be your major limiting factor.

Yesa I know all that stuff already. This is why I opted for windows 2000 , because it doesnt require as much ram as windows xp. I dont want to be running games on there. I just need it to be able to browse the web properly.

Now all I need is instructions on how to install qemu. Can anybody help please?

If you want to browse the web, just install a browser.

Firefox Opera, Konqueror and more all will work perfectly.

Firefox comes installed on YDL but I cant get the flashplayer plugin and 1 or 2 other plugins to install propery for me. Firefox definately is 1000% faster than the stupid web browser that comes installed on the PS3 and I can view almost all websites with FIREFOX where the PS3 browser fails on me.

Anyway I was thinking of building a computer on the cheap (Just the base unit and use my HDTV as a monitor cause it had dsub input)
