Fedora, Acronis True Image, a reliable Destop Linux backup?

I've just finished installing a new 500 gig Segate as a storage unit to hold my also just installed 250 gig Segate W2k drive. My Fedora install resides on a separate Maxtor 300 gig drive.

After much cloning of drives and shifting about yesterday, all is well. But how well can we ever be in computing if we aren't backed up?

Acronis "claims to back up linux! I'm assuming here that this means it "claims" to be able to restore and back up as well...":O}

So yesturday I did a complete 5 hour back up of both my W2k drive and my Fedora drive. and have the volumes verified upon completing the back up....

But I'm to lazy to try to use it! Lot's of work went into my present Fedora install.

So has ANYONE ever use True Image to back up and successfully restore a Linux drive? Works a treat on Windows drives.

I can also clone Linux drives with what looks like a very bare minimum of fuss, haven't needed to try that either... re-partions as it clones as well! ( Have done in W2K)

would appreceate hearing of anyone experience with Linux and back ups. TIA

I will have some time tomorrow to look it up. I will be home again after another injection in my lower back.

Hey if it works to clone a linux drive I'M ALL OVER IT!! Just about EVERY print controller I work on is a linux based OS. If I can just burn images of those (good drives) I would save my self HOURS APON HOURS I spend installing a new controller OS.
WOOT!!!
THanks Dan!!!

P.S. After cloning it says you have enter command line at boot and enter around five short lines of code to ... I think it was to re set the MBR on the new drive... again not tested just observered that they SAY they can! This would make me SUCH a happy camper if I can get Fedora comfirmation as to it's success in doing so.

But I'd rather know I can just back up and restore as I do under W2K... BTW you can boot to the CD or use it from W2K desktop... it "Says it would be happy to back up or restore my Linux drives from the Acronis drive...from the W2K desktop... Ain't that the way it oughta be! ":O}

Got it done first thing this morning. I really hate that. I can stand getting 100000 needles in my arms for tattoos, but take one that is 6" long and stab in in my spine and I tear up like a little girl. At least it does not take too long. A little sore now but time will tell how it went. Thanks for your thoughts.
