A warning to XP users...the hand writting is on the wall....

"With that said, the window of opportunity to acquire Windows XP is slowly closing. Direct OEM and retail license availability of Windows XP will cease on January 31, 2008."

Soon after,new games will mysteriously stop running on XP as the have on Pro, which is XP without the pancake make up...In th opinion of many.... meaning me.":O}

So you mean to tell me that MS could sell 1 Billion copies of this thing. That staggers the mind. At those numbers, it should only cost 50 bucks. He would probably sell more and still make a nasty killing.

Best thing they've done since it was released.

They have a LOT of freakin' nerve with the prices. I just can't imagine good sales among the less well heeled.

Mind you the Author DID say
"In the months following the consumer launch of Windows Vista, Microsoft played the numbers game with sales figures."

Would it be to much to say..."They lie."?

Now that I think about it, there are "only" 6 billion people on the planet, not sure there's even a Billion computers as yet (anyone know?)
At lest they lie with conviction! ":O}

i just upgrade about two weeks ago to vista.
and i have to say it is a great os.
i don't see why there is all of the bad press about it.
i play games and all of my games except a few play fine.

and i have a minum system that is 4 years old.
and not vista ready.
just my gpu and sound card are vista ready.
and i have 512mb of ram.

Vista "Ready" doesn't mean a lot. For a computer system it means something like:
  • A processor running at 800MHz or higher
  • 512MB RAM
  • DX9 capable graphics card capable of 800x600
  • 20GB or bigger hard disk with 15GB or more of free space
  • CD-ROM drive

It also depends on which edition of Vista you run.

How does MS get away with this stuff!? LOL

Now we must praise MS for allowing us to use XP instead of Vista! How very generous and gracious of them, imagine! allowing people to have a choice between levels of MS surveillance!

MS is a bad dream from which the world must awaken! ":O}

I still wish someone would com out with a OS that would really give MS some competition. Even if it cost 50 bucks or more. Just something that worked and was not related to Bill .

I use to pray every night a human being would buy Pro from MS.... I was younger then, barely 50!

It would appear that business is booming for the small-time system builders. Those who don't want Vista, are have been turning away from the big players, and want custom built boxes, with XP installed.

System builders eXPerience gain, as large vendors feel Vista pain

That's how it needs to be done. Cost lots of people lots of money by doing business elsewhere and things will change..

"That has proven true. Only 20% of the PCs sold via U.S. commercial channels -- think big corporate resellers such as Softmart or CDW -- in the first half of this year had Vista installed on them, according to the NPD Group Inc.

Meanwhile, less than 1% of the PCs sold from January to July in the U.S."

So like wow! It's going to be a few minutes before MS reaches the 1,000,000,000 sold mark... Maybe MS fudged the figures just a bit...NAAAAW!
