Fedora8 looks decent, I think I will give it a test spin on a backup rig. I've been running Gnome 2 2 on my main rig for a short time. While decent to work with it is still a little heavy for my needs. I would prefer split ebuilds or a very light base ebuild and let me go from there. Other than that 2.20 is ready for primetime I am running right out there on the ragged edge with my main rig and Gentoo. Moved into GCC 4.3Alpha a couple of days ago. For an Alpha stage it's actually pretty sweet. No broken packages, nothing failed to compile so I can't complain. Using some very safe Cflags for the moment though.

| Probably the easiest thing aghast, is to download VMWare server (its free), and use it to create a virtual machine. You can then use that to install fedora within Vista - it can use an iso file and make it look like the CD drive.

| Will 8 be able to update 7 or will a new install be required?

| In theory, you should be able to update to FC 8. However, as with Windows, it is desirable to do a fresh install if it is at all practical.

| Dan, the upgrade method to use is: download the image and burn to a DVD, boot off that DVD, choose install/upgrade, and make sure that it sees your old Fedora 7 install and upgrades that. It should be all fairly automated. Just don't let it repartition or format anything

| 3 Hours to go. And what will happen in 3 hours, be a demonstration to those bittorrent hating ISPs that it is in fact not evil, but a brilliant method of getting content to the masses.

| I just got one of the Live CDs up, and the other will be up in a few minutes. However, the Live CDs only allow you to play with it; they don't let you actually install it. I'm still looking at about 30 minutes or so for the x86 install DVD
