Dan make sure you get the right version by the way. If you currently have x86_64 Fedora 7, you need the 64bit version of F8

dsio, how best to handel my 80 gig drive I use for music files, the one we set up as a file... there maybe a problem with installing 8, when trying to install 32 bit it whined about it being set up as a file rather than as a device and wanted to re-format it. I declined and had other issuses, I was missing 32 of the 64 bits needed for a successful install, Fedora said it would be unlikely to work...":O}

Thanks Gizmo, figure I might as well take a peek at Fedora 8 since I am at a standstill with my Gentoo guide. (Multilib compile problems on x86_64)

Installed Fedora 8 on the office server today (Intel P35, Q6600, 4GB ram, 1.5TB hard disk). All went sweet. Unlike Ubuntu, Xen actually works under F8, and I was able to get some guest OSen running on top of it quite nicely.

On a side note, The Planet are arseholes, and want $270/month for 8GB of ram on a server, and... wait for it... $760/month for 16GB. That isn't a one time deal, thats EVERY MONTH. And thats on a server that costs ~$300/month on its own.

Issues resovled (Big thanks to dsio!) Fedora 8 now up and running. Will need to rework my Nvidia driver set up, I'll get to it as soon as dsio wakes up! LOL

Was really sweating this one as I'm just not in the mood to tackle this from scratch right now. Now I won't have to learn anything until at lest 9!! ":O}

I've got Fedora running on my laptop. The install went surprisingly well, though I had to run the text-mode install and then pull down the nVidia drivers before I could get X working. Seems the open source nVidia-compatible drivers don't know how to talk to the Quadro FX 570M chipset in this new lappy the company gave me.

Right now I'm busy setting VirtualBox up with a VM to run WinXP in for my development needs.
