NEW YORK -- Reports surfaced over the weekend that an early version of Windows 7 has appeared on the Web, but so far only a couple of users claim to have seen the OS, and Microsoft won't confirm such a version exists.... Front Page

Why pay people to test your software when you have a bunch of willing people to download the "leaked" version and do it for ya for free?

There were some rumors about screen shots floating around a couple weeks ago, too. I think The Inq commented on them.

Will be very interesing if Windows 7 is indeed released in 2009. Most OEMs would most likely hold off and make XP last the distance rather than migrating to Vista and then to a new Windows. Two year shelf life for an OS is pretty piss poor when you consider the fact that XP is still going strong after seven years.

That's because they don't fill in bug information, nor do they feedback in a useful way. Instead they just bitch about it not being that great because it's not finished...

Its rather interesting that. In the software development world in general, you keep your code under wraps and people complain about it, often the client because they're not seeing where their money is going, then if you do release an alpha version for demonstration purposes the non constructive complains come flying because it isn't finished yet, and no matter how much you explain the matter, it never sinks in.
