I never let these programs do what they will automatically on any system I run, but rather use them in "Advanced" mode & pre-select what I want them to do manually.

Btw, the performance booster app I'm using now is Auslogics BoostSpeed which allows you to set things up manually in advance mode.

But most of the "Tweaking" I do to my system is all done manually without the need of any programing to accomplish the tasks.
