My first personal PC ran GEM, not Windows

The first PC I owned came with DOS and a UI program called GEM.

Graphical Environment Manager - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Some PCs, at work, ran Windows, but you had to have a fairly powerful and expensive PC to run Windows at that time.

GEM was also provided with the Atari ST.
