optional.inf
I am having problems with 2k pro. I keep getting an error can't read optional.inf. I removed the HIDE keys from the SYSOP file, and still no luck. I have tried reinstalling the optional.inf file. No luck. When I open the file it is a bunch of garbage.......Look here

That's machine code. And that's all I have to contribute, sorry. I've never used Windows 2k, once. If I did I'd be to tempted to ditch Win 98 I assumed. Of course we all know what assuming does, but that's another story for another day.

I don't claim to know anything about device drivers, but most of the .inf's I've looked at (running 2k) were written in c/c++
I've never encountered a inf without even SOME readable parts..

Where'd you get this inf..perhaps you could get a replacement somewhere ??

It came directly from my inf folder under 2K. I was supprized to see it also. That is why I posted it. I guess if someone else running 2K could look at there optional.inf file and tell me if it is right or what that youd be great. The whole this here is I can't add/remove windows options. I get an error even after removing the HIDE keys form the SYSOP file. ??????????

Yes I did, then I disabled everything and then re-enabled the items I needed. Worked great............

And no format and install needed..........
