Vinyl Recording

I have a boat load of vinyl records. So I got interested in putting them on cd. I have been able to do so with great results.
I downloaded a lot of shareware demos. Of course some of their features are disabled so I use a little of this and that.
What I want is freeware. Anyone know where to get some great Vinyl recording software?

Assuming you're just looking for any "recording" software, right?

Cool Edit Pro has an evaluation that probably wouldn't limit much, but you're probably not going to find much for free that will do any type of decent job if you're actually performing any type of effects processing on the sounds (like skip removal).

Ideally, I'd think Soundforge would be the best option for you.

If I remember correctly Cube Base VTS has a crackle and POP remover in it. Get for getting rid of or adding crackle and pop.

are you serious?!?!? Listen to some of the digital music today. Rap songs do it sometime just for fun. (try listening to Camoflage's Voices and Images, first song.) They added it to be funny, and you can even hear them laugh about it.

It also is used to kinda add warmth and that OLD feeling to the music. (though NOT really so much warmth)

Ahh, i never listen too rap for one thing. But i know what you mean about making it sound old. Still, this is one of those cases where they dont make em like they used to, and thats a GOOD thing.

Ah, new vs old.
Music on cd's are near perfect and very clean sounding. Maybe to perfect and too clean.
Music on vinyl has a different sound. A warmer mellow sound.
This can be a matter of taste. Do you like wood or veneer?

I have been having a great time with this! All I gotta do is put on a album, plug in a cable to my pc, and fire up the software.
I still get that sound without the clicks and pops. Sounds great in the car!
Now I have about 350 more albums to go.
