Russinovich now belongs to Microsoft From the Front Page: http://www.aoaforums.com/frontpage/content/view/899/2/ |
Ok, For the massively uninformed...that would be me, what does this mean to IT? |
Mark Russinovich is one of the most knowledgable people in the world when it comes to all things Windows. www.winternals.com contains a host of useful utilities and countless code examples for doing things that are either explained poorly or not at all in the Microsoft developer's documentation. He has also written or co-written several books on the deep dark internals of how Windows works. Safe to say he probably knows more about how Windows REALLY works than just about anyone at Microsoft. And up until this announcement, he was an independent software developer. |
Looks like it could go either way. On the good side - as gizmo said, He is probably more knowledgable than the programmers about windows, and we could benefit from that experience. Windows could become a more robust and secure operating system. With more intergrated tools for administrators. On the bad side, he could keep doing what he is doing, while his free tools become paid for, and his pay tools get even more expensive. I have mixed feelings about this, and I personally don't think much will change with MS's OS, but their may be a greater range of admin tools that actually work intergrated within windows, and many more avaliable for seperate purchase. |
Thanks guys! |
