When did the US military get so good?

I read an interesting article in Slate that outlines the evolution of the US military over the last 20 years. It's a very short article and I'm sure it's missing a lot of stuff, but it's a fascinating read nonetheless. Take a look.

The same tactics will fail in a future conflict, it's the way of history. We may have tripped the wire that leads to WWIII, 900 million po'd Muslims are not a laughing matter. We aren't finished in Iraq. Iraq isn't finished with us.

What will we do with Saddam Hussein? Nothing. He's probably settling in at his villa on the Black Sea. He won't like the winters there. Argentina or the French Riviera are too high profile for this small time--yet world class bahstage.

Here's hoping that life will improve quickly for Mr and Mrs Typical Iraqi. They've had hardships beyond our ken. Worse, beyond our giving a rat's tail.

well, the fact its a "coalition" involved in removing mr SH.

not to mention the iraqi people have so many "surrender and live" leaflets they dont know what to do with them, and it would seem there is a large number of iraqis helping us, although this is just what i have seen on the news (propaganda perhaps?). But if the iraqi people were not helping us, and were fighting i think this so called "war" would still be in the early stages.

At least they've stopped shooting up British servicemen, and started on their own for a change. Such a pity there's no French troops in this conflict.....

anyone ever noticed how all of the protest and or joyous "liberation" celebrations are ALWAYS centered about a camera? everyone is lookinga the camera, the camera is not observing it is inciting events...

Some alternative news sources show a pic of one of the the pull down a statue pics. Zoomed out, there is no one there. Just the small group in the official photo. The official news sources imply that a crowd outside of the frame is cheering on the liberators. Seems that Iraqi's have doubts about our good will.

Jeremy Clarkson on his refreshingly politically incorrect show suggested the use of football hooligans in national defense. He showed footage and our guys seem to know a thing or two about the use of french street café furniture as a deadly weapon. Then showed a shot of the norwegian palace guard or someone. Two guys walzing around with pom-pom things on their boots.

We'd kick all your asses.

Shame Clarkson's not back on. The first series got thousands of complaints. Stupid really he never said anything the majority of the population didn't agree with - just occasional politcally incorrectness po'd a few stuck up people and now we don't get to chuckle any more.
