SARS virus confirmed to be a form of Coronavirus and not a man-made biological weapon

I guess that's good news. They did various tests on the virus to confirm that it is indeed a coronavirus.

Asked about the possibility that the virus was man-made, Peiris said there was no chance of that.

“That whole genome is essentially new,” he said. “Nature has been the terrorist throwing up this virus.”

Thank God for small favors!!

No cloasters, Mommy still love us! we ASKED Mother nature to do this for us! We bombarded every sniffle and medicated every small cut with pharmaceuticals. When we did this we were in effect saying "Please Mom, evolve a stronger virus for us! Make a better bacterium!"

40 years ago we could knock out Staff infections with a mop and disinfectant on hospital floors. Now we have strains we can't touch with our best and brightest drug c*cktails.

We have failed to see and understand that all life IS connected and changes together.We in effect ASKED for this virus!

Now this virus is asking Mother Nature to make stronger human beings.
She only knows one way to do that...natural selection, thinning the heard. Who can blame medicine for OVER prescribing drugs? Every frightened parent DEMANDED "Something" be done and penicillin looked like such a good thing! AND IT IS! But we have WAY WAY over used it, now there's hell to pay.

I hear China is under reporting it's SARS cases. I have to admit, it's making me a little nervous, especially since I'm leaving for there on Friday night. I guess it's a good thing I won't be gone for long, hopefully no more than a week. I asked a friend of mine who works in construction to get me a N95 filter mask. Hopefully that'll stop the buggers...

You have no idea how paranoid I can be, especially when it comes to my health. Not only do I plan to wear the stupid mask to sleep, I don't plan to go anywhere near another human being unless I absolutely have to. Remember the karaoke thing I used to do everynight? No more for me thank you. No more public transportation either. I used to get a kick out of riding the train in Hong Kong, taxis everywhere I go now. If I so much as hear a cough anywhere, I'm heading in the other direction as fast as my skinny legs can take me. I'm washing all my bowls and cups in boiling tea, even at 5 star restaurants. I will be washing my hands as soon as it touches anything and I will take along a bunch of those hand sanitizer things you can use to wash your hands without water. I hear it takes about 3 hours for the virus to die on a dead surface. I don't plan to enter my hotel room until 3 hours after they've cleaned it. I don't plan to use public toilets, ever. I'll do my business in an alley if I have to. I'm taking along a couple of cans of Lysol, even though I hate that smell. If I can fit a HEPA air filter in my suitcase, I'm taking that too, or else I'll buy one there.

There's one danger spot that I can't avoid though. The Canton Fair. I'm looking for a couple of new suppliers for something I'm planning for next year and I have to get started now, and the Canton Fair is the best source for that. If I can manage to get it started next year and get it going well, it can be a whole new source of income in another 3 years or so. Serious income. Well, no one said it was gonna be easy...
