Lawsuit.

Check out page 3 of this lawsuit filed in Las Vegas. It's enough to make you gag.

The Rio is actually a very nice place. It was the first Hotel/Casino in Vegas to feature all suites. The newer Venetian copied that idea.

Oh dear...
A lot of people go to hotels for this precise reason. (No.. . not to let their young come into contact with biohazardous material, but to carry out the activity that will 'use up' a lot of these - that is if they are responsible and use them in the 1st place!). Just wish they were considerate enough to dispose of them correctly but they could have innocently forgotten.
I guess the hotel is expected to cleanse the rooms before their re-use. However it could be just lazy inconsiderates or an honest mistake on behalf of all parties, even if the result was the tragic jeopardising of an innocents life. I suppose if its anyone's business to ensure that customers can introduce children to the environment safely then it is the hotel's.

What where you looking for that you turned this stuff up Mooky?

Kids will put anything into their mouths - it is a scientific fact that they have no sense of disgust, this is aquired later in life. Thats not to say that they have no sense of taste . . . they quickly regret most of their 'experiences'.

I was wondering. It didn't REALLY sound like a dump in za papers. Poor kid! Poor family! Poor maid! It's a hazardous world, I know a mom who's young son was pricked by the needle of a discarded syringe in a city park. Poor.. you know how it goes.

Whatever happened to the world of "Ozzie and Harriet" or "My Three Sons?" It didn't exist for many folks.

That is so true. Where is the first place a kid sticks his finger when he burns it?
In his mouth of course, even if it's burned by hot-melt glue.

I have a friend that says he remembers that one in color!

As sad a s that is, I can only blame the parents, when you have an unfant you treat everywhere but his crib like a minefeild, they will try and cram stuff in their mouth that is bigger than their head! If your gonna let jr. crawl on the floor, its your job to police the area first! Granted the hotels houskeeping sucks, but it was parental negligence that allowed that kid to get it into his mouth in the first place. what if it had been his sisters sock?

True, the parents have the ultimate responsibility. All the same, this yugly item may not have been in plain sight. I must confess that I'd be tempted to sue, were I this child's parent.

And this is why the good Dr and I get along soooooo well. I agree 100%, I get kinda tired of parents not taking some responsibility when it comes to there children.

Never the less anyone who serves the public for money has a minimum obligation to meet in terms of maintaining an expected level of sanitation. Without out law suits like this one....anyone else remember what public rest rooms use to look like in the 50's and 60's. They were truly horrific!!

Laws suits made big oil gas stations clean up their act! Parents DO have to be very alert! But they should be able to rent a room without finding used condoms laying about.

Shame it was found by the infant rather than the parents, but the parents didn't leave it there to be found in the first place. Those who did need a WAKE-UP call. I hope the judge nails the Hotel in question!

Exactly Daniel that is the operative phrase 'minimum obligation to the paying public or their customers'. It is simply the case of defining what is the minimum level of service an establishment is contracting to provide and don't remeber that it is a contract. Secondly when things go wrong what is the extent of their liability due to the contract. This would be more clear cut if the business worked under a 5 dollar per night -self clean and no guranteed service policy or something. Under these circumstances only a desperate or desperately stupid family would bring a child to such an establishment.

It would also be a completely different case if this had been a sitiation that arose due to a pair of couples who knew each other and a kid, i.e. social mishap as opposed to one that occured on or in a commercial establishment.
I think that one would be more awkward again and even more of a grey area.
