a warning, and goodbye

A few weeks ago I ordered a bunch of dangerden stuff direct from their site as discussed in this thread:
Dabbling with water cooling

Now FedEx have sent me an invoice for £30 for customs charges!!! I barely managed to get a good deal considering the exchange rate and the $50 shipping and now Blair slaps this on it!

Anyway, just a warning! And it seems that if you send someone a gift from the states then its is no longer a gift if: it is worth more than $50 or £36, it doesn't say gift on it or if it isn't sent direct to a private address. And even then they can happily say it isn't a gift and charge tax on it if they want.

GRrr

Anywya, I'm moving house now. Cancelling internet phone line later today then i;m havign to stay with my GF for 4 weeks until I can move in wiht my dad. practically zero internet access in between. So I'm not going to be around. Assuming my hotmail account hasn't collapsed, I'm gonna have so much spam to deal with. may be time to re-subscribe.

Are you sure that doesn't include the FedEx rates for handling your goods through customs - they do charge for that!

Tried paying off my credit card online before I cancel the internet account and go away but their site is down. More delays...

Cheers guys. The card is paid off. All that's left to do is call up bt, cancel the phone line (hopefully they won't cancel my email account: ISPs and telephone providers are closely linked here), pull out all the cables, dust everything off, strip out the water system and bleed it, box it all up nicely and kiss goodbye to it for a good 7 weeks. Don't know how I'm going to manage. Brings a tear to my eye...

Just think about it: no internet, no email, no spam, no hum of fans, no games, no tweaking, no forums, no access to any industry news, no inquirer no slashdot and almost no mp3s for 7 weeks.

I'm going back to a more basic lifestyle: work, eat sleep; possessions: clothes. Just had time to burn of off a cd with my favourtie mp3s, hopefully my girlfriend's laptop will play them or I may just break...

So when your PC crashes and you have to solve it, spare a moment to think of me: no pc to crash no problems to solve. What ill I do with my time?

This is stu signing off, good night. I'll be back.

i think BT keep peoples accounts in a database in case they come back.

before the we put the family computer on ntl:world (the 56k 24hours [but cuts off every 2hrs]) 0800 number, we were with a BT 56k package.

Move the clocks foward july 2001 i get bt adsl, the email account is the same and the password is the same.
They may close the email down, but i think it will definatly be kept in their database in case you go back

No PC for how many years did you say? The horror! Does this mean that you'll have to get a life? The horror! But seriously, the weather will be nice more often than usual. Say hello to a meadow for me, if you get the chance. We'll miss ya!

Bummer, I've had to pay for customs a few time myself, its not that much fun.

Take care until you can return. Cheers!
