Yes, very excellent film. I really want to read Micheal Moore's newest book, "Dude, Where's my Country?"
I highly recommend you check out his site

I think my favourite parts of bowling for columbine are the confrontations with Bob Barker and Charlton Heston. I liked the fact that he said to them what they needed to hear, even though they turned their backs on him and his words, it gives one insight as to what kind of people they really are.

The world would do better with a few more Micheal Moore's.

(oh and the part about Canadian's living with their door's unlocked, it's true. I don't lock my doors at home)

I don't lock my doors either unless no one is home.
I think he did a pretty good job proving that, when compared to Canada, having guns is not really the problem, it's the mentality of the people with the guns.

I whole heartedly agree with this.
Guns don't kill people, stupid people with guns kill people.

Mr Moore lost a lot of credibility in my eyes when he endorsed Wesley Clark. He then tried to weasel out of his endorsement on "technicalities." Tsk.

"Bowling for Columbine" essentially preaches to the choir. Once in a blue moon, this "choir" deserves to hear something other than the steady chorus of disinformation offered by big media.

In a way your right betty, Moore is not the first to do such things, he is not the only one and its not just his side.

Ive notice the tactics he uses have become very popular among Documentary filmmakers today and in educational mediums period.

Its more and more becoming a world where the ends justify the means and entertainment value is much more important then the educational value. Just look at some of the more popular educational publications and channels. Of all the "educational" channels on tv the history channels the only one that still has any real constant educational value and even then they focus on world war 2 and war period way to much. There other events in history that didn't evolve people killing each other.

They are still people and publications out there that aren't heading down those same roads, they're just few and far between and take some searching for.

Three documentaries that I've seen recently that i thought were very well done were; Dark Days, The Endurance, and Especially Stevie which was done by Steve James the same man who did Hoop Dreams.

It is difficult to acknowledge that there are many truths about any given subject. We're have little time to remember this, and even less time to sit down and think an issue through. It's far easier to make the question into a black or white subject and respond to the matter at hand with a simple nod of approval or shake of the head, indicating "No."

As every question has many answers, we're cheating ourselves if we say Yea, or Nay before examining the question carefully.

I finnaly saw this documentary. That site is nit picky, but does bring up some valuable points.

I'm not exactly sure what Micheal Moore's point or side was. It was outrageously funny though. I did think he was to hard on Charton Heston though. He kept asking questions that no one has the answers to.

I've watched it several times. While completely unable to speak to the point of MM's honesty as I do not know him, I feel he presents a honest view, weather he came by that presentation honestly will never be known except by those willing to do a considerable amount of research and maybe not then.

For me it comes down to "Is this the America I know"

For me it is.

It's to be noted that those he offends with his work are themselves not noted for their honesty.

What impressed me most was his willingness to compromise with (was it Walmart?) on the issue of bullet sales.

Also that he was able to give a voice to young people we have horribly failed. The victims of Columbine.

I bought Bowling for Columbine recently. The extent that violence is accepted by our society is beyond frightening. It's almost religion.

I'm unhappy to learn that Michael Moore has feet of clay. Yet "angels" simply can't break through the inertia we've created. "Documentaries" may be things of the past, yet they were rarely impartial, even before the age of "Docudramas."

I too saw the movie, and at first was very persuaded by it. I then learned upon further investigation about some of the 'libertys with the truth' Michael took with the film. Michael Moore is an extreme liberal/socialist who believes government should be responsible for taking care of the people. Those who oppose Moore, the conservatives, tend to think the government should serve big business. As with most extremes I believe the truth lies somewhere in the middle. I have found that my beliefs are most accurately represented by the libertarian party. They believe that government needs to be reigned back in and conform to the Constitution, as was intended by the founding fathers.

I urge you to check out www.russoforpresident.com for a third choice. Big business thoroughly owns both the Republican and Democratic partys...or as I like to call them, The boot on your neck party. If you believe as I do, that it's time for a real change in our country, you owe it to yourself to at least investigate the libertarians...I think you'll like what you find.

IMHO, the only difference between Republicans and Democrats these days is a matter of when you get the vaseline.
