If you like sci-fi comedy, I highly recommend any Terry Pratchett novel, also Neil Gaiman is an excellent author.

I would have to say im drawn more towards horror novels like House of Leaves. Other types have never really interested me much.

Ah, C.S. Lewis; I wholeheartedly agree

If you're a history buff, you can't go wrong with anything David McCullough

I think you misunderstood me, i wasn't saying i like horror. I was saying i like horror like house of leaves.

Its a very low key kind of horror, it starts off with a room being larger then the outside dimensions and the next big thing is a closet (if i remember right) appearing out of no where after a family trip.

As you can imagine the closet one came with a few laughs with jokes about psychotic contractors along with a creepy feeling. Then it starts to take it up a few notches but always with those subtle kind of scares. Its rarely outright in your face stuff (if ever).

Another really good author is Peter Straub..I recommend Ghost Story, Shadowland and one of the books he co-wrote with Stephen King, The Talisman.
Also, American Gods by Neil Gaiman is very excellent. Read more about Gaiman here: http://www.neilgaiman.com/index.asp
