| Hi guys, Was just wondering what software do I need in order to create a VCD. I tried Nero but it didn't allow me to split the video among 2 CDs ... Or did I just do something wrong? ![]() Thanks. JJ |

| I'm sure that there are programs that can do what you want. I'm just not sure what they are or I'd help out more. Why not head on over to www.digital-digest.com and have a look about. This has been the best resource for digital video that I have found. They may have the software you need as freeware. At the very least they will have a freeware program that will allow you to manually split your files so they will fit on a CD-R. Just to refresh my memory, a video CD or VCD is in MPEG1 format?

| www.vcdhelp.com and www.doom9.org are probably the best sites for help with video anything. Ummm the biggest thing you might want to do first is if your planning to play it in a standalone dvd player to check the compatibility with the search engine they have on vcdhelp. That will let you know what kind of Cd's it likes best and if it works at all.

| You need a piece of software called "VirtualDub". It's freeware, legal to use - was designed for home video editing. I have no idea where you get it from - zdnet's probably a good place to start. EDIT: If you have a working Linux installation Transcode does the job very well. VirtualDub uses a lot of transcode-based code iirc. EDIT2: http://www.virtualdub.org/ EDIT3: Just found that virtualdub doesn't write mpeg-1 files. This does, though http://www.tmpgenc.net/e_main.html
