On the one hand it helps people post more, but it's also used to look down on the the people with low post counts(read Hard forum) so I don't know.

Looking at the top 25 posters is pretty accurate here, unlike some other forums that are pure bunk/spam.

I still don't think posts matter as much as the recognition, but part of the criteria laid out for said recognition/title requires X number of posts...

I think so. it used to be stank cheeze but there were too many political problems with that so they changed it to newbie cheeze.
