Hey, I'm not too worried. Who would do the nasty / undesirable jobs if us guys weren't around?

The breakdown for the Kono's method doesn't look promising at this point. They 'reconstructed' 457 eggs, which 411 developed to the blastocyst stage. 371 embryos were implanted into 26 females. 24 females became pregnant. 28 pups born, 18 were dead, 8 had abnormalities and 2 appear healthy.

The long term health is obviously not known - genetic disruptions can take a long time to show up. However, unlike cloning, Kono's method provides an individual being with unique DNA. Will this ever happen in humans? Not in it's current form it wouldn't - the risks are too high, and the sucess rate too low.

In addition, the mouse they used had already been genetically engineered to improve the scientists' chances of succesful parthogenesis. Given that the success rate is a fraction of a percent for modified mice, it is perfectly valid to assume a zero-probability of success for normal mice. Or humans.
