Under The Knife On The Ninth

Looks like my lucky day has arrived.

On the 9th of feburary, it seems I am FINALLY having my tonsils removed!!!!

This means no speaking for a short while and lots of ice cream. :P

The only worry is the fact, under a month later I have a production of West Side Story. Worrying. Esp since I need that time for rehearsals e.t.c

Lets just hope they don't kick me out!!!

My neice just had hers removed...she said it was somewhat painless, and the recovery time wasn't too bad. On a side note, she did say the hospital ice cream sucks though...May want to smuggle in some Edys

"Tonsils and adenoids are masses of tissue that are similar to the lymph nodes or "glands" found in the neck, groin, and armpits. Tonsils are the two masses on the back of the throat."

I remember having mine out when I was 7 or 8. Wasn't so bad. Day I came home from hospital I amazed my parents by eating a Hardee's Big Twin, large fry and a coke. Ice cream really didn't do a whole lot for me.

Then again, day I had all 4 wisdom teeth pulled I ate fried chicken for dinner.

No, I was not all doped up on either account.

Funny, I've had 4 teeth pulled for braces when about 12-13, which hurt and bled for about a day, they was OK.

Had all my wisdon teeth pulled when 19-20, don't remember a minute of pain.

Funny how some things can really hurt some and not others... guess it's all in the dentistry

Why DO they remove wisdom teeth anyway?

It seems as tho they should be called something other than "wisdom" teeth if the stupid things are getting pulled out all the time.

Depends on if they are 'impacted' or not. I have no idea why they remove them really. Mine were giving me issues though. Causing headaches and generally being a pain in the head. Can't say as it cured me though...I still get migrains often

Break a leg, Spode! Just go easy on the voice after you wake up. You'll still remember how to sing. No worries, mate.

They remove them because as humans have evolved our jaws have become smaller so there is no longer enough room for our full complement of 32 teeth. They aren't of any real use and eventually people will evolve further until we no longer have them at all. Similar thing with the appendix, no longer useful and is gradually getting smaller over time but will cause people untold problems till it disappears for good!

Ah the useless information I picked up during Alevel Biology.

I had my tonsils out. It's not bad. Just hope they get the stitches or glue right the first time. Ask me how I know, LOL. Anywho, it's really not that bad once you leave the hospital. Ice cream and Gerber for a week or so, then ya gotta go back to school
