ok, Im not seriously going to follow this but I'm going through a (almost) quarter life crisis, so let the advice stream on in.

In a lot of ways this really is the one that separates the men from the boys. Living in uncertainty while making your own best determination as to what is calling to you in life, what speaks your language?

What good does it do you if I say Jazz?

But if your saying Jazz; whose going to listen if you don't?

If your not saying Jazz whose going to care when you don't?

The best part is! That you won't know who you are until you give yourself 100% to something...even if it's not the right thing, just so long as it's not the wrong thing. You must come to have sympathy with who you are. Listen to your troubles and learn to give yourself good advice. Your OK. Your in good shape.

Let me ask you this, which of those choices would you die for?

Because if your at all determined, your most likely going to give your life to one or more of them. You will give your life to the thing - and then it will be for-ev-er over; with incomprehensible finality.

So how much time do you want to waste on what I think you should do? Am I going to have to step into your grave?

What do you LIKE to do, Jazz?

I know people who make lots of money and are fairly well off, who don't like their jobs.

I know people who are poor and love their jobs.

Consider this:

You will spend at LEAST half of your adult waking life working.

Seems a shame to spend that much time doing something you don't like, just so you can get a paycheck.

Find your passion, do the thing that you enjoy. It may not be easy, but it will be rewarding!

There is a lot to be said for direction. One should know where they intend to go in the long run. Getting there by the most direct route isn't much fun though. If you have music in your blood, don't forsake it.

I suggest you pick a reasonable / obtainable goal and keep that as your main focus. BUT.... DON'T let it consume you. Moonlight as a sax player and keep the music close to your heart.

Only you know what is going to be tollerable as a job goal. You don't have to commit to it right now but you should take the first couple of steps in that direction. You have many other courses you will need that can apply to whatever you decide to go for. Focus on that foundation and when the time comes for you to commit to a path you will know by then which way to go.

You could still play in jazz clubs and have a regular day job, as well. I mean if the day job gets boring you will have something to look forward to in the evening.
