92F in Seattle today!

Heat wave continues through the week. I'm shutting down my boxes from 3.00 to 8:00 pm. This small house just get to hot to tolerated!

It's not quite that warm here, but I can only handle having one machine running in the room.

its become rather hot and humid over here in the south of england in the last few days. All machines still up and i've just overclocked my server to what it used to run as my desktop. Its reliability so far has been top notch (somthing it wasnt as a desktop).
I think i'll go take some photo's of my stuff when i get my camera back ('er has it still )

K

Edit - Just looked up temperature stats thingy ma bob.
Highest uk was "Solent M.R.S.C. 9 metres 26.0°C"
(the 9m is height above sea level).
Its a few degrees down on yesterdays max, but then that is not usually the warmest place in the uk, it just happens to be on my doorstep though :-)

I thought about you guys when I saw that on the weather channel today. I know you guys aren't used to that much heat. Too bad that cold wave isn't going to stretch over far enough to bring any relief. We may get a little help down here in SC but I don't expect much more than rain for the next week or so..

I try not to complain about the weather, but 92F is genuinely hot in the Seattle area. The 80's aren't bad--as long as I can laze about. We have the influence of the cold North Pacific nearby. It can't stay hot forever, we hope.

Let's see...26C is equal to 79F. If I remember correctly, Britain and Europe experienced a no kidding heat wave last summer.

Yes it was rather toasty at times last year, with several locations breaking the 100F barrier.
The south coast is usually a few C cooler than the max temperature there is usually a sea breaze from the south which takes the edge off the temperature.
Warmest is usually abit further inland and towards the london area especially heathrow airport. That is affected by all the jets passing by artificially raising the temperature a little

Adding the safe cushion of 12C to my reported processor temperature, I see 49C as the probable correct current temp. In days of old, 50C was destabilizing to a P3. Where does the safe temperature zone end for a P4? AFAIK, they handle a little more heat than the S370 P3's did.

according to udsm my overclocked p4 (see sig) is running at 58C at present (how accurate that is who knows). Would of been into the 60's during the heat of the day, and is still rock solid. Case temperature is 42C, but thats taken down the bottom which is kinda stagnent with most of the air circulating the cpu area.

Thanks keithwalton. I guess I'm breaking no "temperature laws" atm. Crikey, MBM reports lower than BIOS reports. I haven't liked MBM for a long time. Yeah, I'm too lazy to adjust it.

Wow, that is pretty hot for this time of year isn't it? Wasn't it just last year we were kicking it on the patio sipping a cold one and it was in the high 70's low 80's?

I'm sure it will be over soon.

70-80's is more the norm, but Seattle, well it's Seattle and no one know what the weather will do next. All three of our boxes (Patti's and mine) are water cooled and sitting at 50C. Once the ambient temp raises all you can do is follow it on up!

But all three ARE stable and fine, just can't have the kind of heat they put off to the house in this weather!

Can't wait to turn this one off {Did I really just say that!!?? ":O}

It was 104F in Fresno, CA today. I spend alot on A/C. The humidity was only about 30% so it wasn't too bad.

Not a problem we usually have, temp today is probably in 60's, got both rigs in a spare bedroom and it's normally tolerable.

the heat isnt much of a problem, humidity is ! yesterday according to the site i linked in a previous post we had a max of 88% without any rainfall.
For today its reading a max of 100% so there must of been a little bit of dampness this morning. its currently reading 68% and 18C (recorded an hour and a half ago)
I've just been outside and it is quite warm but still bearable :-) all rigs aok

Please do not ever come to the South East in July & August then. 95 deg and 100% humility are the norm here. It does get up to 110 at times here. That is when I get out the wet sheets and run the aircon full blast all day. I bet you guys don't even have an aircon, do you....

As bad as it effects me, I always think about the poor guys who have to be out in it when it gets that bad. How the heck they take it I'll never know. Also, here in Columbia, SC we have one of the nations largest "basic training" facilities for the army here. I can't even imagine training in this weather.

Unhappy

lol, it has been an average of 100f here and topped at 105f and I have to sit in front of fans with the central a/c wide open, to keep from sweating..
we have to lots of water..
And I have to cut the lawn, and it is terrible..

SM is correct, it is horrid here in the South East, and trust me, Alabama is the worst, cause it is Deep south, and there is no ocean to cool the air off like Florida has, so we are screwed.
You know what else sucks about the South, in the Winter, it actually gets cold...OMFG!! the weather here sucks..
We have like 1 week of nice weather a year, and the rest is hot or cold.

It gets so hot sometimes, the pavement will melt the soul of your shoes..
our weather here ranges.. -20f-110f, so we are really bad off, well anyways, enough ranting for now..
