A group is protesting the military for providing free breast implants to female soldiers. I've heard of protesting the military for various reasons, but this has got to be a first. I don't know whether these people are really serious in their protest or just doing it for the publicity. The leader of the protest is a guy named Mark Kulkis, President of Kick @ss Pictures, a company devoted to making adult films that only star women with natural breasts. Their spokesman is Mary Carey, an actress, who once ran for Governor of California. Their slogan is apparently, "bullets, not boobs."

I read the article and I'm still confused. Is this a joke? Are they against all the plastic surgury or just breast implants? I read yahoo oddly enough on my phone when I'm stuck somewhere waiting, this is one of the odder ones.

Considering the fact that we are wrangling in Congress over how much money to spend on the military, this seems like an unwise expenditure of capital. I'd hate to think some soldier in Iraq died because we didn't have the equipment needed to protect them as a result of this. IMHO, this group had a good argument, but completely destroyed it with their approach to the problem.

I was unaware they didn't have enough equipment, except for the Xboxs, PS2s, Laptops...etc..

Free breast implants for female military members is ridiculous for any reason, and is a waste of tax dollars..

There have been some suggestions that they do not have all the equipment they need. I do not know if that is the case or not.

It IS ridiculous, but it is even more so if we are not providing our soldiers with what they need.

In the military are large numbers of cosmetic surgeons. The thing is, they don't get to practice very much, because there are very few medically necessary cosmetic surgeries. The military offers the surgeries for free to keep these surgeons in practice and also to keep up their skill level.

Hold on just a minute............

There should be plenty of reconstruction needs right now. What the hell do we need MILITARY boob doctors for? They should be working on skin grafts, for wounds and limb transplants, and eye transplants, and such. There is no NEED for breast enhancement in the ranks. No need for a doctor in the corps to practice it.

Don't get me wrong, I like a nice set just as much as the next strait guy but I see no reason for:

1) female solders to get them.
2) my tax dollars to train people to do it.
3) anyone in the military to practice any "vanity" surgery in the first place.

This is Hollywood / Vanity surgery and has no place in the ranks.

What are getting to here - Do we have a Porno S.W.A.T Team now?

Those things are all better uses of a doctor's skill, if the doctor possessed those skills. The fact of the matter though, is that there are large numbers of doctors who actually specialize in things like breast enlargement. Yes a dermotologist can very well do skin grafts, but not dermotologists who specialized in botox and acne treatment. The problem is that the medical field has gotten extremely specialized, and the army has a good number of these specialized doctors. My sister got a liposuction a couple of years ago from a doctor who hadn't had a patient in two weeks. That's because this doctor specialized in lipo surgery. He would in no way be qualified in doing something like a transplant.

Why, prey tell, does the MILITARY need Breast enhancement doctors though? What purpose does this procedure play in national defense? Why does the MILITARY need bigger boobs on their women who are serving? Why don't we have a general in charge of Scrabble and a Captain in charge of the latest bikini stylings?

Making boobs bigger is not something the MILITARY needs to be involved in. There are plenty of fine medical schools that can train these eager young sculptors OUTSIDE of the military, and that DOESN'T run on my tax dollars.

Maybe I missed my chance here..... Maybe I could have gotten the military to teach me Flower arranging or interior decorating or something of the like.
