Speeding tickets

What a day!

On my way to the college today driving in my old VW, I got ticketed! The police were ready with this laser cam thing, arrghh... BUSTED - doing 124 km/h where I was only allowed to do 80 km/h. Opps, more than 50% over the limit. :nervous:

Anyway, this set me back about $200, so I guess the computer upgrade will have to wait a while.

Do you have any similar experience you would like to share? Or feel free to donate money to "Making Allan Rich Project, part 1".

argh!! speeding tickets are the pits! I got one last month. A $183 ticket was not on my 'to do' list for 2002, thats for sure. It sure put a damper on my spending.

I haven't had a ticket in 20 years....when I decided to quite driving, I let Patti ~ drive, it's Soooo much easier than listening to her complain! ":O{}

I've been thinking of handing over the reigns to the mres more and more lately. Seems I get in a foul mood sometimes because too many people are in front of me. It would surely stop me from getting another ticket, thats for sure.

Hehe, you know this is my first speeding ticket in 20 years as well! (21 to be exact). I got a parking fine a year back, but that just isn't the same! :clown:

20 years? I haven't even been driving that long. I'd like to make it 5 years without getting a ticket, but I never seem to make it.

I guess I'm in good shape, true...just wish the tickets were a little less, thats all. I seem to like the bigguns. And my god! I can only go to traffic school 1 more time. I think the max in Florida is 3 times....the mrs always lets me drive the puter, maybe I'll to the same for her with the car. Keep me outta trouble at least

The last 3 times I got stopped for a speeding, the policemen let me go. I have about 5 different sets of cards, badges, and window stickers for various police charities I donate money to. They take a look at all the paraphenalia, smile, give me a knowing look, and tell me to go on my way. If you think about it, the money you donate to the charities always works out to less than the cost of the ticket if you figure in insurance premiums.

Mook.

I seem to get stopped on a regular basis: something to do with driving a rapidly dying car that "coughs" every hundred metres draws rozzers like wasps to honey. Not that my car could speed - it'd fall apart first!

Yes, I've been to court also...time before this was a doozy...had to cough up almost $500 to get my license back. I signed up for driving school, took the class and never turned in the paperwork. I didn't have to turn it in the time before, but I lived in a different county. Seems there is always a way to get ya. You'd figure I would have learned, huh.....

I don't speed any unless it's a really long drive, and it saves me hours. other than that, in every day driving it cuts of one, maybe two minutes for me and adds risks just not worth it. I did used to do it a bit but then my brains kicked it.

It's been more than a year since I've had a speeding ticket. I'm no longer a felon. In Ohio, not sure about elsewhere, the second moving violation in a 1 year period is considered a felony traffic violation. You just bow humbly before the judge, with all 12 of your previous speeding tickets in your history, and say "I'm sorry, Your Honor. It won't happen again." and hope they don't give you the chair. I think the chair is now legacy equipment here and they just give lethal injections to repeated traffic offenders. At least I won't suffer.

that was 17 years ago , things were a little cheaper back then , the rough part was the following year when I got my license back, I had to pay 2400$ for the first year of insurance (high risk pool)
