Arrow make bitcomet and other BT clients faster!!

hi there people heres a little bit of info that helped me out with downloading with bitcomet...

okay everyone knows that loads of people use bit torrents to get new stuff and they all say bit torrent rules but when u go to dl something u get 8-20 kbs that sucks especially if ur trying to download something big so how do u get 90-100 kbs + <= now the rate depends on your connection

its simple, what you have to do is

Exact steps for bitcomet

1. go to options, preferences

2. advanced, connection

3. for maximum connections per task change it to 1500+

4. for connections to keep per task change that to 1500 too
and u should have great speeds good luck

* almost all programs have this setting somewhere u just have to find it!!!!

thats it, so i hope that this will help, as before i found out i was getting sick of really slow speeds from all my BT clients

now i can reach my max bandwith limit on my ISP
now downloading at 60kbps+, yeh my isp sucks, but its better than notthing

regards WooDeIrL

The best single way to improve your download is to only set your upload to around 3/4 of the max upload speed to leave some headroom for the download.
Also you need to open the ports in your firewalls settings, in the xp firewall just unblocking it isn't enough you should specify the ports to be opened so in the bit torrent app specify a range of ports of about 20, e.g. 10000-10020 and then open them in the firewalls settings
And finally use tcp optimiser in the file section to optimise your connection http://files.aoaforums.com/code.php?file=1952

doing all these steps increased my download from about 40kbs to around 110kbs, the upload speed made the biggest impact just try and see the differance between having the upload set to your max and to 3/4
with cable it's not as simple and you would probabally benefit from only setting it to around 15kbs

our guitarist is quite good, he's no steve vai but I respect him. Our bassist isn't so hot, he has good ideas and gets the job done but he'll never win any awards. I try to be very open minded, too many musicians either cling to the basics claiming it keeps the music true, or go out of their way to push the boundaries, and while both views have merit I dont like to limit myself so in one song I might be doing odd timings or poly rhythms and another I'll keep it simple and straight
We're all 21 (I'm 22 in a fortnight)

This is probably the sole biggest way to increase the throughput on bittorrent. Bittorrent works by limiting the bandwidth to clients that do not share back. If your PC is behing a firewall, then the firewall may be blocking other people, which is intepreted as not sharing. Thus you end up with poor performance.

With the standard Bittorrent client, I can get a maximum of around 14Kbyte/sec if I do not allow other people to connect to me. If I allow other people through the firewall, that jumps to about 100Kbyte/sec

Just in case anyone's not paying attention, many bit-torrent hosting sites are being shut down by the MPAA. You'll have to find one based over-seas to find any more.

hi all,

I found this last night which may interest you about BT...

http://www.slyck.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8875

Apparently it is not the MPAA shutting BT down, but sum1 called Sloncek, the owner of Suprnova. But there is alot of speculation on the site, so upto you to make your own mind up.

no BT as in bit torrent, it's a file sharing program, what happens is a website has a torrent file, whenyou run this with bit torrent it has information of other users who are downloading the same file, and you download from these people, as well as people with complete versions called seeds, and while you download you also upload the parts of the file you have downloaded, it's a very efficient means of distributing data, and as such is used for illegal file sharing
it is true that the mpaa hasn't successfully shut any sites down yet, but I do know of some who aer currently fighting legal battles with them

Yea, Sloncek owns Suprnova.org and shut it down b/c the MPAA threatened to sue unless he did. They're going after other sites as well. I love the response that over-seas sites are telling them to shove it. I don't condone pirated software and movies, but I hate corporations and their bullying even more.
