Havent seen a thread about this yet on here, well today was the day the uk went to the polls to hopefully remove mr bliar (yes that intentional) from power. I do hope people have voted with there feet. I for one exercised my democratic rights.

I was rather glad to miss the election campaign with all the horse-trading that seems to go on. Party politics really gets under my skin.

I voted. I will not say how I voted, but suffice to say it was based on policy rather than character.

Agreed. I don't relish the prospect, but everyone I know has been trying to find the least of all evils in this election. It's not easy

"suffice to say it was based on policy rather than character."

That's a given!":O}

Really the older I get the more obviouse the Dog and Pony show gets.

American politics now amounts to Good Cop (telling whatever lies the majorty wants to hear) and Bad Cop (telling whatever lies the minority wants to hear)

sorta mixed up in odd ways with "Pin the bill on the donkey"

I just say good luck! ":O}

I voted today and after listening to some of the apathetic attitudes of my friends I'm begining to think why did I bother.

Well done Britain we earned this one.

I didn't vote, simply because there wasn't time to arrange all the necessary things before I had to travel for faroff lands. It seems that arranging a postal vote takes rather longer than the couple of days I had.

In '97 he promised not to implment tution fees, he did.
in '01 he claimed to have legislation to stop top up fee's, he's implemented them. for that alone he cant be trusted. nevermind all the other crap they've done.

Looks like so far labour are going to win, lib dem's making large gains, conservatives making some small gains. might be hung parliament though as even in safe seats labour are loosing ~7-9% votes
exit polls said lab majority down from 160 to 66, could be alot less

Edit - Argh my area's stayed labour, however a 27% majority was hard to overcome though it was known for swinging about. labour lost 10% the rest gained a few.

There's also the small matters of (allegedly) lying to Parliament, betraying the public trust, passing phenomenal amounts of personally intrusive legislation and making some seriously undemocratic changes to British law. Like the Terrorism Act - it slices, it dices, it bypasses the Magna Carta and the most basic principles of a free society. Thank you Tony!

My passport's being renewed. I have a feeling it's gonna see some action.

Our countries have such crumby leaders.
It sucks.
I am hoping we see some trend changing soon in national leadership.
Oh well, the US will have to wait till 2008 to get bushbag out, and you'll have to wait a while as well.
Hopefully, some people will get some sense and make sure idiots wont get elected again.
But look what happened, Bush and Blair are back in office to torment our countries.
I absolutely cannot stand the current us pres.
I refuse to call him my president, he is the oil man's pres.
I love my country, as well as most people, but I do not like or agree with my country's pres.
Sorry for the rant, but I just cant stand our pres, just as I can see you cant stand your country's leader.
I had a bad day, I had to watch bush on tv, so I am mad, and I ranted.

We have another 4 years of Blair.

He has maintained that this will be his last term. After this he will need to go on and make a large amount of cash for himself.

I dunno if bliar will stay in for much longer, brown does want to take over from him and it may just happen. The sooner the better imho. Its not that i like labour i dont, but i'm not exactly fond of there opposition either. Nevermind it was too late for saving me any money anyway

Blairs ego is massive and he will probably stay for as long as he can. Most Labour back benchers want him out.My family have been staunch Labour for as longs as I can remember, my uncle is a councilor and he cant stand him and he found it very tough going having to stand up for labour in the run up.
Was his new house £3.5 million? thats what I heard..peoples man? Looks like hes already got it.

Hey, Bush is a jerk, but he pays his fellow country leaders well...hahaha

He was bribed(IMO) by bush, just for help in the oil crusade, bush thought that if the UK was on his side, he was in the clear, but luckily, a lot of people in europe and america protested.
But apparently, it was not enough. -sigh-

Most of the people at AOA would make better leaders than bush and blair.
I vote Chrisbard for president of the world.
seriously, the pendulum will swing the other way soon, and hopefully we can have good leaders again.

Blair is as independent as Bush. (read sniveling lackey of business interests.) That one seems to serve the other is an illusion created by the fact that they both serve the same interests...oil.

I think he paid that for it, but then it was valued at £3m a few months later.

Nixon has similar "good luck" with Calif. real estate...but the Republicans forgive him. After all everyone wants nice home...Besides we couldn't get the seller to came back from the Bahamas to testify against him..

One of the snarkier conspiracy-obsessed Web sites had it that --sh gave 17 billion bucks to Blair for his support of our fiasco in Iraq. 17 bill isn't all that much for the famiglia --sh.

I hoped that Britain would be smarter than my Sainted Country and give Blair the bum's rush. By the bye, did the exit polls according to main stream media flip from favouring another candidate to Blair at midnight on election day?

Funny how that happened on our side of the Atlantic.
