Phones 4 me?

Hey guys, I could use a little help -

my last phone unceremoniously packed up on me a little while ago (it was a Sony T630) and I am in the market for a new phone, but I have no idea what is good and what is not, so I ask you people for advice.

I don't mind going second hand, but there are some basic things this phone needs to be :

1. needs to work with my virgin sim card

2. needs to be tough as hell, as I have a nasty habit of destroying my phones

3. needs to be nice and cheap

TIA for any help you can give guys!

The Samsung X640 is tough, better than the so called rugged phones.

That looks pretty good, I'd be a bit worried about the flip mechanism though (another previous phone of mine died that way )

the nokia 3100. i've had it for 2 years, and i've dropped it on various types of ground. from dizzying heights, and at my top speeds while biking. also have had it grinding away on the edge of my tire too, it still works. very strong. mind you it doesn't have an mp3 player, camera, or all the fancier stuff, just the common features

You can have my old Ericsson T65 if you want. It has all the mobility features of a tree, but it's also indestructible. I've played cricket with it and it's still working. Want it and it's yours

I just got a nokia 6230 of ebay for £45, not the best phone in the world, but it has some good features, and its a solid phone. Not flip up or slide. colour screen, camera, and apps are availible like opera mini, and eMSN, its very handy being able to chat to msn buddies anywhere you like and view threads on AoA from ur moby!

ebay is the way to go m8!

I have just upgraded from a nokia 5100
That thing has been dropped in a river, run over by a small car, kicked, dropped off my balcony, down concrete stairs, through puddles, etc for 3+ years and the only problems has been a cracked face plate (damm car)

The nokia sales rep also wacked a new one a few times with a cricket bat against a wall then demonstrated it still worked.

As a indestructable phone I would reccommend that one - not to sure about the newer one though. Haven't had much experience with the other rugged phones.

Favu, I recently dropped my T310 in a pint of beer and it's running again now, but anyway I bought a Siemens ME75 - its not the ultimate phone, but for a month already it went through a little mud and a couple of falls on the road. The case is a bit damaged, I suppose it's from the keys in my pocket...

M75 is said to be better, but 50% more expensive. There's a review with a crash test similar to noob's - falling, water, a car, dust and dirt.... The phone died after falling from the 30th floor

An update for this is long overdue, I bought myself a second hand sharp GX10 that worked for about three months but then fell to a series of software glitches.

So today I bought myself a brand spanking new 20 GBP mobile phone - Expect a review once I have spent some time with my new toy

Fuvu, now don't go getting edgy, but, well, has any suggested that you might treat your phones better? How ever improbable it may seen at first glance, I strongly suspect that your long term solution lies in this direction....
As you've just acquired a victim, I thought this might be a timely suggestion ":O}

I was nice to the last phone, only dropped it a few times.

The phone before that fell into the toilet as I was cleaning and recieved an SMS.

One just completely fell apart after my friend grabbed it off my by the flip.

what do you mean look after them?

Pretend it's a talking egg. You will treat it better and you will be special!

I would get seriously freaked out by a talking egg and I am pretty sure I am not alone in that!
