| Read about it here: http://www.aoaforums.com/frontpage/content/view/984/2/ What do you think? Are Macs still cool?

| Not cool. Never was, never will be. Far too clichéd for me. Plus, how much longer must they persist with the same styling? It WAS original, but not Apple are no good at styling. All they do is stick bits of transparent acrylic here, bits of white there. That isn't design. That's brand identity and the face of a company which is struggling because of it's own fame to do it again.

| Because its basically the same image and look as they've had for years and years. Its boring.

I've studied Design for 4 years. Apple haven't, in my view, moved on. Whereas the PC industry has caught up, Apple hasn't really moved on. The proof is in your pictures. One of those is now 10 or so years old. Yet it's by far the most interesting and innovative design. Apple's Computer sales are failing the company. Let me show you Favu. The first two pictures are yours. Apple around 10 years ago, Apple now. The second two are PC's around 10 years ago, PC's now. http://www.uvm.edu/giv/1998/computer.jpeg http://www.mobilemag.com/content/images/7332_large.jpg I know the first image is NOT a Dell, but as all PCs looked VERY similar back then, for arguements sake we assume it is a Dell. Now, look at your Apple PCs. Nothing has really, actually changed. Sure their different, but they haven't exactly evolved. Whichever of those 3 looks best is going to be personal opinion. To the untrained eye, they all look equally modern too. Now look at my PC pictures. The old "Dell" is clearly ugly. It's also clearly older than the new Dell. Not only is the new Dell more advanced and aesthetically pleasing to look at, it has actually evolved. This is because the neew Dell can be folded up and transported. It's much, much better. ANYONE can see that. But you can't with the Apples. Now I'm not great at wording, but surely you must understand my point now.

| Having spent time in design only educates one's perception, it doesn't change nor void the tastes and perceptions of others. It's enough that "I" like it or "I" don't. I like the Mac's design. I don't really care how well it sells and those sales may not be being determined by shape but by content. As to age, well the basic arch is still going strong, some designs are rather enduring. 99.99% of all pc's are boxes standin up or laying down, that's the reality of PC's. Just about any real change in that which follows fuction, will please me.":O}

| I dont really see how apple mac have not moved on. This is a Mac from around 12 - 14 years ago (man i feel old, used to have one of these bad boys) But i still dont think Apple Mac Are "cool". I see too many white wires in people's ears when I walk around the street and I think to myself "uurggh". My only requirement for buying an MP3 player was that it was not an iPod and it was cheaper than an iPod lol ![]() I dont like the clinicalness of their designs for their pcs either, makes me think of a cancer treatment unit or something |

| They look like they belong in hospitals....

| The folding Dell is nothing new. We've had folding portable PCs for a long time. The first one I had would have been a Compaq "lunchbox". That would have been about 18 years ago. One of these: http://www.computermuseum.li/Testpag...IIportable.htm The price of that type of box is the only thing which has really changed! Old ideas just get recycled in to a modern style. We're not likely to see anything new, it's all been done/invented already. You could argue that the idea originally started with type-writers whne the first portable/luggable type-writers appeared.
