Talking Socket?

Looks like I broke the motherboard of my old HP Pavillion (yes.that one). It doesn't recognize the HD neither the DVD rom. I change the cables (twice).
I install a NIC and remove the cables for that, when I was connecting them back the board mekes a funny noise, like a "crack". So my feeling is that I mess up the board. Looking forward to change it but need to know what kind of socket it has. HP Pavillion 1994 more eo less, Intel celeron 2.2gigs.
