Seems odd really, what sort of van is it?

Around these parts we are used to "White Van Men" pulling 80+ in their Ford Transits.

All in all, glad you made it OK!

Depends on the transmission. Automatics by virtue of their design will always create a great deal more heat than a manual transmission in the same vehicle, particularly if they are geared very low for city traffic. Hence the use of a passive, or active ATF cooling system in most modern cars.

I would imagine most of those "White van men" drive manual transits, which allow greater precision in tailgating, and louder compression braking after midnight in residential areas. Mind you, Sabine Schmidt also managed to do the Nurburgring in under 11 minutes in a manual Transit Diesel van.

Good to hear both you, and the van survived to fight another day dude.

Ford windstar...Not really made for towing, but has done it many times. I just got a little carried away.

It probably would have been fine with an external trans cooler. The internal cooler in the rad just could not remove the heat fast enough.

Thanks guys....
