Image viewer, with highly efficient zooming and antialiasing, video player, web browser... And with a very good quality screen. These sony guys... they know what not being pr0n friendly cost them back in the betamax war. They're not letting it happen again Trust me, PCs do not have a monopoly on pr0n.

| Now we have a claim that the GeForce 8800 won't be overclockable: http://www.theinquirer.net/default.aspx?article=35244 |
| ||||
| What they mean is, it won't be factory overclockable. Manufacturers won't be able to upgrade clockspeeds at bios level, calling their cards KO or OC editions anymore. User overclocking is still fine.

| This is funny. When I got my 6800 back from Leadtek, it was locked tight. Every time I tried to OC it, it would default back to stock and say it failed. The work around was to flash the bios with the volt mod and higher OC speeds. It is now back to where it was before.....hehe...

| Think of a tree branching and rooting. It's a mirror process. Foundations increase, spread, fan out and support further branching. change is constant as is needed for growth to take place. When a fundamental root dies off or is killed the limbs and sometimes part of the trunk that it served die with it. If a branches lose their Sun, they fade but are regenerated by the root which remains healthy. Will the PC endure? Is it root or limb? Limbs endure while the root need endures and it finds favor in the Sun. Roots regenerate branches to serve the need. Chop one branch of expression off, another grows in a more advantages place. Branch expressions of that root need are lost all the time as newer stronger twigs explode with new growth. Human commutation with all forms of stored knowledge and each other, I think, can safely be called root. How long any branch of technology that expresses a root need lasts depends primarily upon how good of an expression of that need it is. Communication; as a NOVA TV show recently reminded, isn't like other technologies. We don't seem to give them up when they are surpassed! 50 years after the invention of the car and truck, where are the horse buggies and wagons? But forty years after the Television, Radio is going stronger than ever! We have wireless AND landlines, We have PC and consoles. ALL continue to grow and change. Where there is continuity in change conditions are such that things may endure. Which is to say where the original need continues to be well met, things tend to evolve rather than depart from the foundation that originally grew to meet a given need... I expect a great deal of continuity in change. Interface will evolve to improve and maintain our access to those things we wish to access. If a beanie replaces my keyboard, well, I type with one finger! Joystick had to go, no games support it. How long before the keyboard goes? Not before a better means of access arrives...Continuity must be maintained or the system breaks, the tree dies.
