As industry thrives, AMD will struggle, firm says

Although the microprocessor (MPU) industry can look forward to a strong performance in the coming months, the struggles for Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (AMD) are not about to let up anytime soon, one firm believes.

While AMD are on the performance back foot they should really hammer (no pun intended) home the price/performance of their chips.

They should also stopy fannying about and bring out a killer Intel chipset. There is little they can do about the core 2 being the performance cpu choice, but they may as well be the chipset it's running on.

interesting

I agree that Intel will have the upper hand for the next year - maybe two. But it has taken Intel almost 7 years to recover from AMD's release of the original Athlon chips. AMD's biggest issue stock price wise is to turn the ATI division back into a money-maker, or at the very least scavenge the best people and technology and move on down the road. Neither company is going to go out of business soon, and the competition should keep all our wallets a bit fatter.
