Learning to Ride

Edited...

Hey guys
I'm doing my CBT after my last week of term. So, I was wondering if anyone had any advice on 125cc bikes. I'm looknig to spend around £500-1000.
I've had my eye on the Cagiva mito and the Aprilia RS125.....both seem to sell second hand for about £500-1000 though the Mito is fairly rare so more expensive...any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers fellas. Sorry the post went weird!

I'd go for the Aprilia.

Also, rare bike = parts may be hard to come by.

If you're starting with anything like a bike / car / boat you want some thing cheap, common and reliable.

Go for whatever fits that the best

Personally I'd try and get a 4 stroke like the Honda CBR 125, it might not be as fast but the engine isn't so fragile, has lower emissions and is quieter

I agree with the 4 stroke. A much longer life cycle. A little easier on plugs and general maintenance. Should have more bottom end torque for low RPM power as apposed to high RPM screaming.

Yeah... if you don't anything about 2 stroke engines you WILL kill yours. 4 stroke for newbies is the way to go.

Remember to get yourself some decent body protection to go with the bike. It's quite fast and you're very vulnerable, that's a dangerous combination.

by all means, 4 stroke. you will enjoy the quiet torque, the LOW maintenance and lower insurance rates. it
is still fast enough to get hurt.

Especially if you want to putz around or arent into speed. A 2 stroke is not really meant for the faint of heart.

Go to easy on them and you'll foul the plugs damn quick. I have a yz125 and bikes like that are suppose to be pegged in every gear unless your slowing down.
not much low end torque, but still has a better top end. definetly low maintanence.
I've had to have my top end rebuilt twice now and 2 new rear sprockets.

4 stroke, CBR 125...no arguement there.
