Critics of digital rights management have long insisted that record labels could boost sagging sales by offering music unencumbered by copy-protection schemes.

Ahhh the days of old. I am sure most people are getting fed up with jumping through hoops to get music that they paid for on their portable players and computers. It will be interesting to see if sales go up

The big music labels need to kill DRM fast, before it kills their business.

I can't think of another area where the opposition between art and the bottom line feeders is so apparent nor so badly handled.

Anyone who looks at "The Music business" will not have problem seeing a constant effort to produce music...without the artist!

When that's not possible, (and it's horrifying often it IS possible just by grabbing 5 guys with abs or chicks with, well, chick stuff!)

Then they try to produce music without paying for the artist.

TLC, a recent phenom, made not one dime from the millions of albums sold!

So this is the history of the industry. It was only natural that they should get around to screwing the listener as well as the artist.
