That's fine, Yan. I mainly just wanted to keep the web page trolls from latching on to it. And actually, our spam filter is pretty good, now (IMO). 'Course, my opinion is a little biased on that count.

No, but on the basis that power is extremely limited. For some of these systems, a wind-up charger may be the only way they can be powered. F@H doesn't sit well with that!

This is entrenched evil that this project faces on every side. Manufactures are suddenly "Interested" in third world computing and are "Competing" with a ZERO profit project...because they can and "they have no mothers to love them" (Peter Pan)

Local dictatorships see little use in an educated population communicating "behind their backs"

All we can do is identify those things most likely to produce good results that will of themselves grow beyond our ability to predict...

But I have this nightmare of a migrating people is search of water, in search of food, in search of a way to reach directly out to those in positions to help...A few of these laptops may become a tool of basic survival...

I think the Nigerian goverment in general needs replacing at this point. I have no doubt someone from this company crossed someone's palm with silver to make these problems happen.

Sadly, just like right of way in Missouri is determined by the size of the wheels on your truck, the right to govern in Nigeria seams to be determined by how many people weilding machine guns are willing to kill for you.

And cheap laptops are our only defence... Yet I think if we can arm out troops in this way...the world may yet stand a chance. People can be unbeliveably couragous and determained.

What say we, as in our Membership, pony up the dough to send one of these laptops to a kid with a yen for learning? We can make magic happen! They cost $200, we have umpteen thousand Members. Wouldn't it be nice?
