They didn't buy our product, so they must be theives!

Microsoft said after releasing its March quarterly results in late April that emerging markets saw an increase in the number of PCs sold without licensed software -- often a sign that pirated software will later be installed on the machines.

"I don't think anything's fundamentally changed. Each of these countries has their ups and downs as a function of changes in government, you know individual regulators, law enforcement priorities etc," said Mundie, who was in Jakarta for a conference on government leaders in Asia.

Don't suppose they've heard of the EEE, that pesky little thing that created another few hundred thousand Linux users last year and is set to increase that to a million or so more this year, among other competitors.

Bit of a kick in the teeth, if true.

It runs slower, is harder to use given the screen size and is less stable. Even people that wouldn't install Linux themselves are using EEE PCs and treating them as appliances rather than computers, which is really a good way to look at it.

Its not meant to be an all conquering multi purpose machine, its meant to do a handful of functions very well and in a convenient package.
