| Let's see... I had such a great time, I forgot the details. Good clean fun saving them heathen South East Asians from the grips o' them Commie rats. Oopsie...the Communists won, didn't they? It's them stinkin' Liberal's fault! We was gonna murder every one of them pesky Viet Namese, from the Delta to the Chinese border. Then we'd a showed them who's boss! But no, them gawd damn Liberals made us lose the war. A lot of Americans really believe this. Well, "Liberal" is a very dirty word nowadays. I think that the "people" that are large and in charge now will live to regret the day that they decided to turn this country into the thing it is becoming. As well as the excuses for citizens that swallow the party line. I'm glad that I'm in sight of the gates of old age. I don't wish to see what's going to happen to this land that I don't recognize any longer. IMHO. Oh, you asked about service and branch. The question is usually framed as "what branch of Service?" U.S. Army. The Marines were tougher than I wanted to be. The Air Force a bit too wimpy. Navy? Six months with 5.000 guys? Coast Guard? All filled up, try again later. I was so stupid that I cheered when I saw my orders for Viet Nam. I eventually smartened up, long after it was too late.

| US Army, mid to late 80's. Blackhawk helicopter mechanic in the 101st Airborne, Ft Campbell, Ky. There were no conflicts during my term of service but there were a couple of little things in Central America that got the adrenalin flowing. The biggest lesson I learned was that no matter what jungle, desert or third world country I was in, beer, booze, women and drugs were always easy to find. ![]()

You probably experienced the joys of Air Assault school also. That pretty much sucked because I never cared much for the grunt stuff but I did love the rappalling. 63B, I'm trying to remember but I think that was a turbine engine mechanic, wasn't it?

| I was thinking of joining the army, but i got a bit of a thing for being extremely stubborn, i dont take too well to authority, especially if its the "im gonna shout at you to make you do what i want" variety.

I loved Air Assault school, in fact I volunteered for Rapell Masters school. They dangle you from a Blackhawk and drag you around the base at about 300-400ft above the ground. What a rush!!
