AOA versus Overclockers.com Unreal Tournament Saturday!

Gametime June 1st 10PM EST click here for official thread

The 5 maps we will be using are available for download from here. I suggest you download them, unzip them... *.unr files are map files and they go into your Unreal Tournament Maps folder, *.utx are textures, etc... they will also download to you automatically from aoafiles or speeddj's site...

SpeedDj's webserver, the one we will be playing the match on: unreal://ocutserver.sytes.net:8777.

Lineup:

Daniel
Robbie
Kenny/Kendan
Pinky
Zordoz/Southern Man
Superman

Super is a great clan member but cannot make the time on a Saturday (next time we'll schedule on a Friday for you ). Betty and others have shown interest, and will be "active reservists" since PCs are flakey and someone might not be able to make it. If I forgotten someone, flame me below!!

There's a slight chance that if we have 8 players show up, OC.com may be able to supply 8 of their own and we can have more players, but this has not been agreed upon for our sake and the possibility something comes up and we ONLY have 6. If you are a reserve and eager to play, be around at Gametime 10PM EST Saturday either checking this topic/thread or ICQ/YM.

Quote:
Alright folks the server is now up for CTF Practicing, please feel free to hop in and get used to the maps. Those are the ones we will officially be playing upon. We need as much practice as possible on those maps.

The five maps are as follows;

: Car Park CTF
: Chasm CTF
: Esprit CTF
: House of Cards CTF
: Nalisazure ][ CTF

I'm hoping we play more than an hour, so I'll just assume Saturdays are out completely then

I challenged OC.com to come and explain/justify their last minute changes here.

The tournament may be going on, I'm not a part of it. It was 30 minutes past start time and just then did most of our clan members get to connect successfully. They made last minute server changes (yeah, and upgrade, but at what cost to my personal time) and even changed skin colors (which mattered on one map very much).

I'm not happy, ney I'M *******in pissed!!

We spent almost 2 weeks preparing!!!

My fury will be taken out on another clan at another time.

This is from your other thread, just thought I'd copy it over so that all the AOA guys could see it.

Earlier this past week, it had come to my attention that my server was suffering from 'Creeping ping' since originally the plan was to move the UT Server over to a linux router today that didn't bother me in the least, but being one to be prepared I immediately begin to put into the works an 'alternate' location. We were able to *counting our blessings* get our hands on a Dedicated machine connected to a T3 Backbone, in a bit of stress testing we were able to put it through it's paces and all seemed well, none of the creeping ping issues at all. Now at the time this was all in the works we did not know until late friday that we even had permission to use this server. But we were given the go ahead, so we pushed on, Daman and I worked furiously today to get the Linux router and UT Server up, alas 30 Min's prior we still were not ready to go live with it. We tried, and thanks Daman for all you have done I truly appreciate it.

Now, moving forward, Yes I should have posted some details, no I didn't for that I am sorry, my concern was getting everything functional again. Now if you find my actions to be wrong for doing everything I could to get the server up and functioning 100% to assure that we wouldn't have any issues well than I am sorry.

To AOA, you need to really perhaps think about your members conduct this evening in the midst of trying to sort things out, their actions well I shall say his actions were not warranted nor were they welcome. His behaviour was not in the least bit friendly, we were trying to sort things out as to why the teams were not properly assigning. If in that you are angry, well let me tell you I was a bit miffed myself, if there is something else perhaps you are referring to feel free to post it.

All I can truly say is that I am sorry, I did my best, obviously that was not good enough as I seem to have 'angered' you fine folk.

The blue thing to which you are referring to Pinky kind of strikes me by suprise being that, earlier and even in posts at AOA you were all told that you were practicing as green and we were as blue, thinking that things could be simplified I simply stated to Cyklopz *Who has been pretty much the go between the two teams* that perhaps you all should go as red, when the details were known and final he posted them for you.

Feel free to contact me regarding any of this. To the OC Guys, I am truly sorry, and thank you for the resolve you guys have shown in weathering the repeative server issues these past two weeks. Would you guys like to go again ?

WTF? here I am TRYING to VOICE our standing and it was all BS and I get KICKED.

For my swearing I am sorry to all that I offended. But I FELT (as well as others I'm sure) that I was getting the short end of the stick.

I hope we ALL can COME to an arrangement to play some time in the NEAR future.

Game ON

I think it safe too say that both teams experenced a disappointing set back tonight. Hopefully we can get together soon and have the fun we intended to have. Sorry about your server diffculties, we've all been there!":O}

Perhaps some improvement in communications are called for, this should be easy enought to arrange.

No.

Once bitten twice shy. This is not the first time I've seen a OC.com match go to pieces (months ago a seniors vs. mods match vaporized).

AOA is ready for the tour, I'm going to look into playing some established clans this week.

Clan matches are hard to ogranise at the best of times.

Without setting out all the rules before hand there inpossible.

My CS clan is being accused of cheating in clanbase at the moment. At least in an organised league you get some arbitration, which we will win as we didnt cheat and they are stupid.

If you want to read a whole load or argueing go here.

I think when things go terribly wrong the mud starts to get slung pretty quick.

Unfortunate but true.

Pinky, wtf is wrong with you? Connection issues are not the fault of any individual, and colors are the only real gripe you have? COLORS? Come on man...

As far as the seniors vs mods game, that went as planned. In fact, I believe only one senior showed up. One or 2 of the mods jumped over to the senior side to help even out the teams.

Ask el, he has played with us many times.

"once bitten, twice shy".....nonsense.

and robbie, neither AOA nor OC members appreciate the language in the forums......what makes you think they want the language in the forum games?

Rather than perpetuate what seems to be a deadlock in mutual understanding, why don't we give this a rest for a month or two and perhaps try again at a later date when feelings aren't running so high.

At the request of Dan I'll leave this topic alone.

Agreed, however on a friendly note, and without the competition side of things, any of us can log in at any time to one of the servers and have some fun.

Just send me a PM if you need your daily dose of a** whoopin. =P (el excluded from this offer!)

We won the match conflict as they had no evidence.

We also won tonights match 32-11 so we will soon be in the top 200 on the UK ladder

Connection issues are the responsibility of the host. If you want to change your connections, fine, give yourself enough time if issues come up and let your opponents know if there are connection issue before gametime, not at 10:00 or 10:05... Color mattered on one of the maps tremendously. Lying, that's been addressed in my prior post.

I realize we're all volunteers, but if I say I'll be there I am, it's a matter of personal reponsibility at this point. No one's taking any, and now I'm being "attacked" for speaking my mind when I certainly am not the cause of the issue or problems we faced Saturday night.
