My First Attempt At A Front End Page For Aoa

Hi,

me and spode have decided to work together on a temporary front end for AOA homepage, I have just spent some time doing some work on it on my own, spodes gone to bed (school morrow) so it ain't approved by him, i think ill let spode do all the scripting for the front end though coz i make to many errors

well it is a first attempt, just want to know what everyone thinks of it and what i might change before spode is shocked and wants to clip me for wasting my time

heres the link: http://www.pc-critic.com/AOA

That's pretty good. I'd use a different font though. That ones pretty bland.

Comic Sans MS is good but it has a kiddie look. I like Dom Casual a lot but it needs to be used with style codes, eg <font style="font-family: Dom Casual; font-size: 16px">

Also, the rest is pretty good. I imagine you look light colors. I'm opposite, I like dark colors. But it's your design so don't let me convince you to change. If you like your site, others will too.

Also, I abhor <table> code. Only because I suck at it . But really, I think <div style="position:absolute; top....."> is better personally. <span> is even better but only supported by IE 5 and IE 6 (I think).

Sorry to be so critical. I think it's great for a first effort. I can't tell you how many times I had to redo stuff onDa OC Place , but now it's pretty good.

Designing pages is a lot of fun though. Part of the fun is debugging. That's what I like more than the design is coding. You'll never understand how complex Tic-Tac-Toe is until you have to design a program that allows a computer to play it knowledgeably.

I agree - the page looks good, but it could do with a slightly more interesting font.

Is there any chance that Spode can put some code in for a right-hand panel with links to the busiest threads? Might be quite cool.
